Continuing to add exciting new faces to their roster, Nikko.Z's
Dopamine White welcomes Airbas and Paul Daze to the label for
their debut EP. Based in Italy, both Airbas and Paul have
established themselves in the world of progressive house. The
duo's collective discography is highlighted by releases via
Freegrant Music, Hoomidaas, One Of A Kind and Suprematic, while
earning support from electronic music's top tastemakers along
the way. Now following a collaborative effort for Blackboard to
begin the year, Airbas and Paul make their Dopamine White debut
with 'Follow The Sun'.
Landing as the duo's most engaging production to date is the
title selection 'Follow The Sun'. Played out over six plus
minutes, its swing heavy groove, rolling rhythmic structures and
flashing percussive arrangements unite for amazing moments
across the first act. Adding further depth to the journey, a
memorable vocal sample and wavy arp emerge out of the first
break, sitting against a backdrop of smooth chord changes.
Landing in a timely manner, the second break brings a great
emotional response, with processed pianos and classy modulation
uniting for a spirited apex and driving finale.
The second selection 'Orange Illusion' finds Airbas working in
solo capacity with a darker more hypnotic sensibility. Sleeker
than its predecessor, the Italian artist marries pulsating
rhythms and flashy percussive arrangements over a meditative
groove. Once again, the main break is set to captivate dance
floors with an array of broken beats, siren-like tones and
rising modulation, all of which unite for an understated
crescendo and groove-centric final act.
Continuing to diversify the release, the EP concludes with the
more emotive 'Floating'. Once again operating in solo capacity,
Airbas crafts a traditional progressive framework, complete with
warm undulating grooves, airy arps and nostalgic chord changes.
Bright and colourful throughout, it's the main break which
proves most captivating, melting down to muted kicks and hazy
harmonics, as a flurry of indie-inspired drums sparks a smooth
finish. It rounds out an excellent three-track offering from
Airbas and Paul Daze, who make an excellent Dopamine White debut
as we enter 2022's second quarter.
