Fresh from delivering a second EP of nostalgic cuts for New York's
revitalised Nu Groove label, Stefan Braatz and Oliver Siebert bring
their Acid Jerks project to Flaneur Recordings for the very first
time. The TB-303 fetishists have brought their A-game, too, with the
retro-futurist rush of 'Utopia Vision' seeing them join the dots
between classic acid house, hands-in-the-air piano house, and the
synth-strings heavy machine soul of DJ Rolando and Octave One.
'Instant' is a more stripped-back, mid-1980s style Chicago jack track
with bonus sci-fi sounds, while 'The Fatalist' sits somewhere between
vintage Larry Heard, Yorkshire bleep and Bang The Party. Final cut
'Narcotic Illusion', meanwhile, is a glorious fusion of sustained
synth chords, undulating melodies, twisted acid lines and non-stop
machine drums.
