Following a two-year hiatus, Coymix returns to action via an EP of
Balearic-minded, progressive house inspired workouts from debutant Geo
Taguchi. He sets his stall out with 'Captain Quark', where psychedelic
electronics, cascading lead lines, echoing Orb style vocal samples,
shimmering bleeps and picturesque melodies ride a deep, dubby bassline
and chugging house beats, before doffing a cap to mid-90s Spooky
productions on the melodious and sun-kissed 'Sargasso' (which,
incidentally, also features a tuneful refrain that reminded us of Sun
Electric classic 'O'Locco'). 'Mitsuki' is a chiming, star-lit chunk of
progressive breaks bliss, while 'Deep Blue' is an immersive, mid-tempo
affair that sounds like it was designed for loved-up sunrises and
stunning coastal sunsets.
