Following fine releases from himself, Ortella and Beaux Arts, and
Jason Hersco, Hurlee welcomes debutants Tree Threes to his fast-rising
Letters To Nina imprint. There's little info floating around about the
newcomers, but as debut EPs go, 'Jay Contnuez' is undoubtedly a
cracker. For proof, check the title track, a deliciously summery slab
of thickset deep house underpinned by a shuffling, drum machine driven
groove and peppered with tactile electric piano chords evocative
spoken word samples. Elsewhere, 'Deep In Houze Vibe' is a more driving
chunk of riff-rich, organ-sporting NYC house circa 1993; 'Here For
You' is a dreamy and woozy treat underpinned by garage style organ
bass; and 'True Them' is a sweat-soaked, organ-heavy stomper of the
sort that Danny Tenaglia and Junior Vasquez would probably enjoy.
