............................
We welcome Phi Phi back to Bonzai Progressive alongside Marc
Denuit on their latest cut titled, 'Substructure'. Throughout
the years, Phi Phi has remained a steadfast presence in the
world of progressive and trance music, staying true to his
musical roots. His extensive resume includes countless
residencies, club performances, and festival appearances,
solidifying his legendary status among his peers. Phi Phi's
dedication to his craft and unwavering commitment to the genre
continue to shine through in every note of his music. We are
delighted to have him back once more. Marc also makes a welcome
return to the label having previously graced these shores as
part of Innerphonic who've delivered some top-quality tunes for
us. Marc has been DJing since 1984 after growing up in a musical
household. His repertoire is extensive with residencies at top
Belgium clubs commonplace for him. After many years of playing
to the crowds, he took up producing and since 2018 he's been
churning out some serious tunage alongside Mad Gregor. Great to
have him here once again.
The release opens with the dark and murky vibes of
'Substructure'. Right from the off, we're drawn deep into the
progressive abyss with a steady flowing kick drum and rhythmic
percussion arrangement. Deep basses bubble up from the depths as
high-quality FX provide a wide, cinematic flavour. The track is
all about the atmospheric groove that builds in a slow burn to
deliver maximum impact in any set. 'Pure Air Breathing' rounds
out the release, opening with a rhythmic and infectious drum
pattern before chunky kicks come through to drive the groove
towards the depths. The attention to detail in the FX department
is second to none as we're transported to an almost chilling
scene filled with dark elements and solid, chugging motion. On
the low-end, rumbling basses shore up the arrangement as plucky,
muted synths create contrast and texture. A top-notch slice that
will not disappoint.
