Mexican producer Ritmo du Vela has taken his brand of infectious house
music to a multitude of labels over the years, most notably Moiss
Music Black and Nitegrooves. This four-tracker, though, marks his
first outing on Phil Weeks' long-serving Robsoul Recordings imprint.
Fittingly, he begins with 'Let's Start The Show', an unusual but
inspired slab of alien jazz-house laden with bustling beats, minor key
motifs and weirdo electronics, before opting for a thickset, loop-
based, 'French touch' house flex on 'Different Sounds'. 'Do You Wanna
Get High' joins the dots between Chicago boompty and jazz-house (a
sound explored in the early noughties by Derrick Carter and Luke
Solomon's Classic imprint), while 'El Jazz de Chicago' offers an
arguably more potent and impactful riff on the same sonic blueprint.

                          --- --- --

                              a deephouse release
