Some solid collaborative action here, as long-serving Cologne producer
OKOFUNK joins forces with London-based rising stars Tree Threes. They
start in confident mood, peppering a deliciously dreamy, tactile and
loved-up deep house workout with mazy, '80s boogie style synth solos
and occasional bursts of Batacuda style drum-breaks ('Origins'),
before diving head-first into even deeper, Larry Heard-influenced
waters on the similarly delicious 'Time'. OKOFUNK delivers reworks of
both tunes, first adding extra percussive pressure and rich organ
lines to his take on 'Origins', before joining the dots between Ron
Trent, Joe Clausell and Osunlade on a stellar re-make of 'Time'. Grown
up deep house music that sounds great in the club - don't sleep!
