A four-tracker here from Kiwi trio Flamingo Pier, who made a big noise
Down Under with their self-titled debut long-player in 2021 and are
now starting to make waves internationally - at time of writing,
they're halfway through an extensive US tour. The EP opens with the
polished dance-pop of 'Mazunte', and continues in a similar style with
'Move This On'. The title track then shifts gear into slightly more
overtly (nu) disco-fied territory, but it's closer 'Deeper Soul' that
throws the EP's one real curveball as it mixes and matches light,
fluffy Balearica, squelchy low-end sleaze and spaced-out 5am
Cowley/Levan-esque weirdness.
