After a two-year hiatus, the Snuff Crew returns with a bold new
direction, integrating live performance into their productions and
drawing inspiration from the creative potential of their machines.
Their latest release blends vibrant phonetic percussion with elements
of Chicago house and acid techno, evoking a raw, spontaneous energy
akin to Jeff Mills' 909 workouts. While the tracks excel in rhythmic
variety and nostalgic acid sounds, they occasionally fall short of the
aggressive edge typical of acid techno. Despite this, the Snuff Crew's
retro-futuristic aesthetic shines through, especially on tracks like
"Energy," which features a compelling 303-driven acid drone, and
"Psycho," with its rich low end and evolving rhythms.
