23 years after founding the label, Phil Weeks continues to deliver
rock-solid - and sometimes superb - EPs of chunky deep house on
Robsoul Recordings. 'Spinnin', his latest single, boasts Prince-esque
lead vocals from Mikey V. It's a pleasingly funky, swinging affair
rich in rubbery bass guitar, twinkling synth sounds, filtered disco
loops and half-sung, half-spoken vocals that add even more energy to
an already action-packed workout. It comes accompanied by an
instrumental take and handy acapella, as well as the 'Stripped Down
Mix' - a dancefloor dub style take that wisely focuses on the
percussion, bassline and Mikey V's memorable lead vocal.
